All you need is a copy of your airway bill number. Through the airway bill number,
you can access and retrieve your goods. Once you have received your goods successfully,
you may wonder whether to dispose of the airway bill or to keep it. Intercargo recommend
that you keep the airway bill, as it is an important document that can be used either
to track your parcel, or even make a claim.

Punctual partner agents
Our partner agents will help you with customs clearance, local formalities and documentation,
and will assist you with receiving your goods. Once your goods have arrived, our
agents will contact the consignee to collect the goods from their receiving centres.
Collecting from the airline
In some cases it will be necessary for you to collect your goods directly from the
airline at your destination. If you choose this option, the airline will contact
the consignee upon the arrival of your packages. When receiving your packages you
may be liable to pay a customs duty fee upon clearing the goods within the arrival
destination. These overseas clearing charges are impounded heavily on items such
as cigarettes and alcohol. It is up to you to minimize these charges by carefully
selecting the goods you are sending. For example, if you are sending cigarettes
or alcohol, reducing the quantity will mean paying a lower customs fee when the
goods reach their destination. Prior to being able to collect your packages, you
will need to complete the following steps:
- Payment of local charges
- Declaration to local customs authorities
When goods arrive at any destination outside of the EU after departure from the
UK they must be declared to the local customs officials for clearance. The clearance
process is usually quite simple and you can complete the formalities yourself at
no extra cost.
It is your responsibility to check that your shipment complies with all local import
requirements and any applicable restrictions. We have links to many customs authorities
in the registered user area of our web site; contact us if your destination is not
shown. You will be responsible for any import duty or taxes payable. Used personal
effects that you intend to keep do not usually incur duty; however, the final decision
is made by the destination customs officer at the time of importation, and is totally
outside of our control.
You will have to arrange collection of your goods from their port of arrival.
Receiving packages at the door
Here at Intercargo, we provide a fast and effective service, known as the Door-to-Door
service. This service enables you to have your goods collected from a designated
place of your choice and sent to a specific location at your chosen destination.
You, the consignee, will need to re-present the airway bill upon request so that
the goods can be released. In some ports, goods will be stored at the destination
for a few days free of charge if you are not present at the delivery address. After
this free period, rent will be added for each day the goods are left at the receiving
centre. This rent charge is usually very high, so we recommend that you ensure that
you or your nominated representative can take immediate delivery to avoid a protracted
process. If you do incur rent, you will have to pay it in full before the goods
will be released to you.
In some countries you can have a friend or relative effect the customs clearance
on your behalf, providing they have all the necessary documents. However, we must
have notification that another person will be collecting your goods so that we can
incorporate it in to your booking. We have links to a number of customs authorities
within the registered customer area, and we recommend that you familiarize yourself
with the import process.
